223 Six. Differences between older & newer?

Is there any major differences between a 1954 223 and a 1960 223? My 54 needs rebuilding. The newer one is said to run good and is reasonably priced. Any reason I can't or shouldn't swap? Thanks
Bob

The only real difference is C.R.'s over the years & it was only after mid-'60 that the Valve Cover Bolt pattern changed, Head Bolts were enlarged a tick, changed where the engine mounts are located & a few other changes took place. But I don't have my books @ hand so I'm unable to rattle them all of to you.
I see no reason, other than not keeping & just re-building your original engine, just to keep the "Olde Girl" completely like she came out of the factory.

Basic block remained the same till it stopped production in '67 w/ Industrial applications, I've yet to experience, nor have I yet to read that there was a problem mating up between years.
