Help! Something is wrong!

I just got my truck's rear fuel filter changed. As soon as I left the lot, I heard a ticking. It ticks when I accelerate, but goes away as soon as I come to a stop and after I shift gears. Help! What could this be? What did that machanic do to my truck??????

After coming home and getting the guy on the phone, he said it could be a fuel injecter gone bad. Well it wasn't bad when I pulled it in there!!!

My truck seems to be running fine but I haven't ran her much.. I'm afraid of making something that might be bad even worse.

The first time I ever take Ole' Betsy to a stupid shop and something goes wrong.

What do you mean the "rear" fuel filter? There's only one.

Where is the ticking coming from? When you get out under your hood and rev it up, what is it coming from? I will assume it's coming from under your hood.

Nevermind guys, I'm fairly sure I found the problem. And yes Iceman it was under the hood. You can understand why I freaked out though. When you pull your truck into the shop, you don't expect it to be making odd noises when you leave after some man has been under it working on something and cussing up a storm.

Thanks guys! I appreciate you taking time for this thread.

I suppose so. The guy had asked me which one. My manual shows I only have one though. It's behind my gas tank.

well my 300 ever since i bought it has always had a slight ticking sound to it. I could never tell if it was an exhaust leak or if its just the way they are. shes also had a whine-ing sound too. its coming from the power steering. but like i said maybe its just they way they are. and if thats case, now that yr 300 is getting fuel better, then nothing at all may be wrong.

Well the reason I freaked out is because my truck has been making weird noises lately (both the front and the rear. going to check out my pumkin later) and it wasn't making that helacious ticking noise when I pulled into the shop for the first time. Me and my dad plan on ganging up on my truck this weekend. I never heard of a belt making a ticking noise, but mine is. When I hit it with WD 40 it goes away for a little while though.

And that whine you hear is probably nothing, mine makes a barely audible whine too. I think it's just the sound a 300 makes. Or maybe we both have the same problem? ha.

i get a bad whining too. power steering pump. had it on my 88 grand marquis 5.0 too. and my friends 87 cougar H.O. 5.0 was probably the worst. Its just the old ford power steering pumps. when my marquis developed a leak in the power steering i started refilling it with motor oil to thicken it up. slowed down the steering a touch on those cold mornings but got rid of the whine. i wouldnt recommend it though if its working fine

I wouldn't worry about the power steering pump whining. If Ford ever made a quiet power steering pump before the late 90's, I'd like to see it.

It's nice how the power steering fluid can leak and land direclty on the tie rod joint.

Mine doesn't make a sound. Clean fluid and regular flushes are your friend.
