my 2000 f250 had been making a slight hissing/sucking sound from on the passanger side just put on a 4in exhaust last night and now if you hold the rpms in one place it sounds like a F15 about to take off. Hot cold dosent mater I dont notice any lack of power. If you slow down it stops if you speed up it stops but like I said run the same rpms over a grand and it sounds crazy any advice would be great
It's the EBPV. You might need to clean the tube and/or sensor. It gets aggravated by the larger exhaust because of the lower back pressure. I put a switch on it so I can shut it off. It gets old after a while.
Check where the DP connects to the outlet flange. May not be aligned properly.
I'm with jason on this one. If the only difference is the new exhaust the DP isn't properly connected to the turbo exhaust outlet. Misaligned or clamp not tight.
ok guyz i tryed what you said cleaned sensor and tube but with no results i unpluged it and it stopped so the sensor is junk now what do you think i should do delete the set up or replace the sensor? and could you tell me the upside of a deletion?
The upside to deletion is better air flow(with a new larger outlet), less places to leak oil ( if you replace the pedestal with a non EBPV one), your up pipes will have less pressure on them and will be much less likely to leak. It will take a longer time to warm up, but not by a ton. I installed a switch to control it so it will function while idling when cold, but I shut it off as soon as I start to drive. I have a new pedestal and outlet that I'll install when I have the time. Plus, right now there are no leaks so I'm not in a hurry to mess with it right now.
You can just unplug the actuator plug at the turbo and be done with it. I was installing some other electrical so I did the switch. If I wasn't running other items I would have just unplugged it.
ok thanks for that info but i have another question/problem i just put that exhaust on and a kn cold air intake also i have an edge evolution tuner and when i run it on extrem and hit 5th gear sounds like the turbo is cutting out is this turbo surge if so how do i stop it its anoying and feels like im losing power.

Here is you answer to your first question. If you had previously been running the stock box, what you are now hearing is the open air intake.
Oh BTW be very careful with that K&N. The turbo tends to suck all the oil out of the filter, and can let particles pass through and sandblast your turbo wheel. make sure you stay on top of the maintenance of that filter.
you could either install a wicked wheel or equivalent (others sell the same compressor wheel under different names), get a ATS housing or buy a new higher performance turbo. The compressor wheel is obviously the most cost effective route.
Don't put it off either, because that surge is very hard on the turbo.
