Truck was running rough at an idle. Took it to the dealership. They said the pcm was bad. $500 bucks later. Ran good for about 2 weeks. Started doing the same thing yesterday. Engine runs fine when driving down the road though. I had the cps recall done, did't help. I have a edge evo on setting 1. What should I do next? Help.
unplugged the ICP sensor and the motor smoothed right out. I don't see a code for the sensor though. Does this sensor start going bad without throwing a code? Is ebay the best place to get the sensor. See they have them for 75 bucks.
Glad to hear that worked for you...unfortunately it wasn't my probme. However, I found mine on Ebay for about $50-$60, I guess $75 ain't too bad adn probably 1/2 what the stealership would charge.
FYI....I don't think you can 'run' with it unplugged but unplugging at idle will show you if it is giving a wrong signal to the computer or not.
Since the idle smoothed out, you need to check the ICP voltage with a scan tool (or breakout box at pins 87 to 91) with the sensor plugged in and the key on - engine off. Should be .20-.25 volts. If the base ICP voltage is within specs, replace the IPR. If not, replace the ICP and retest.
This will tell you for sure, but you need to access the info with a scan tool. A code reader is limited in its capabilities. You need real time info.
Do what Austin suggests. Also, my ICP, was flakey, bad when cold, good when hot. I rolled the least expensive dice and just bought the sensor off ebay and all was good.
Also, you can drive the truck without any problems with the ICP unplugged.
