Can anyone tell me what could be wrong with my brakes, I have replaced it all. Last month I put a new drivers side caliper on and then the other day I went ahead and put the other caliper on and new rotors and new pads. Now it pulls to the left when I brake. They have been giving me problems for about a year now that's why I went ahead and put all new stuff on them. Any advice would be appreciated. I have a 1990 F150 2 wheel drive 302. Thank you
I have the same problem. All of my brake parts are original except pads. I am about to replace nearly everything since my truck has over 250K miles on it. Did you go with new or reman calipers? I got new ones. I prefer to stay away from reman crap if I can. That could be the problem. I would have thought that replacing everything would eliminate this problem. I have heard before that a bad tire with abnormal wear can cause this. I don't yet have everything that I need though. I am going to do front and back. Did you replace the rubber brake hoses? Maybe one of them is fouled up. I have seen that happen before. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Yes, check the tires but also check out your front end linkage. Specially the ball joints. I had the same problem in my truck but the brakes checked out ok. It turned out that the linkage was shot. The ball joints were ok but I think the linkage was held together with pure stubbornness. I replaced all the linkage last summer and now when I put the brakes on, I can take my hand off of the wheel and still go straight. If the front end checks out ok, try rotating the tires, you may have a bad one. Hope this helps.
well, I did not change the lines out, That's all that's left I think. Wierd thing is I did the caliper (new) on the drivers side a month ago and then just did the passenger side and since then I get a really strong pull to the left. I rotated the tires too. Have not checked the linkage or joints, I took it to a shop to have the tires rotated and balanced and they didn't say anything and usually they do, to try and sell you stuff. These brakes are just driving me crazy, have no problem with the back at all.
Got another question if you guys know if it can be done. My truck is a 90 and it has an overdrive button on it. Well, when you start it it automatically is in overdrive you have to push the button to turn it off. Well, I forget half the time, can those be switched around to work the opposite way. Didn't know if it was possible at all? Thanks alot I will check out the linkage and ball joints and see how they look. Thanks for the advice.
Overdrive is your friend. Leave it on unless you are towing heavy loads, driving in the mountains, or the tranny is constantly hunting. Otherwise, it saves you gas (and these trucks need all the help they can get in this department).
Pull to the left, you have a problem with the right front brakes. Either the caliper you just put on is faulty or the flex hose is collapsed internally and it's not getting enough fluid.
yes your right overdrive is good, but half the time I can't remember to hit the button everytime I start it, that's why I was thinking if I could switch it so it came on automatically and then I turned it off when I didn't need it.
So you think I should replace the line on that side first , then pull it if that doesn't work?
Overdrive is automatically on. When you push the button and the light comes on then overdrive is off. If it is off and you turn off the truck, when you start the truck again overdrive will be on.
About the O.D.---why do you want it to be auto OFF ??? I would forget to hit the button every time I drive !!! I only shut off my O.D. when I am pulling my 28 foot
camper--even with that I leave it on on the freeway.
