I bought this great truck six months ago and need to replace the burned out bulb in the third brake light assembly. I have removed the two screws, but the assembly won't budge. I tryed prying with a screwdriver but it only moves about a 1/2 inch out and kind of snaps back. I don't want to break the plastic and feel there must be some kind of clip holding it inside. The shop manual just shows the screws coming out and the assembly being removed easily. What gives? Thanks.
Thats true, but also I have seen where the housing melted and there is a bulge in the housing that is holding it from coming out. One of my friends had that happen and the housing or assembly broke when he removed it to replace the bulbs.
Both very interesting, thanks. Since I have really pried on the housing, my guess is that it, too, may be melted. The former owner had a topper and had rewired for a brake light on the topper. I removed/ taped wrapped wires when I took off the topper. I wonder if the third brake light is even connected? Thanks for all the information.
