1998 Explorer
Greetings! Picked up a used 98 Explorer Sport in August. Love the vehical. It has a couple of problems, though. I can't open the tailgate with my key, nor does the power lock work on the passenger door. I searched this site for diagnostics. Evidently I may have to replace the door lock motors? Is there a seperate fuse that may be causing the problem?
The vehical came with just one key and no info about the keyless entry. How do I go about getting another key and info on the keyless entry?

The control module for the keyless entry is inside the access panel on the driver's side front of the cargo area. The number on the module is your keyless entry code. Can't help with the key, try your Ford dealer. There is a method to add a personal keyless entry code in the owner's manual - if there isn't one with your vehicle, your dealer might be able to find one or try eBay or ask someone with the same year Explorer to let you look theirs. Setting the clock is also in the manual.
