98 Expedition - Key question

We recently picked up a 98 Expedition with 92k through a private sale. We got two keys with keyless entry. Keyless entry works fine, although one needs a new button. The question is the keys... they work the ignition, but not the door locks.

Any suggestions? At the sale, we asked about this and they said they never used the keys, just the keyless entry.

My guess is the ignition may have been changed. You have a couple of options. Take the truck to a locksmith and they can either fit a key for the door locks or put in new door locks and have them pin the cylinders to work with the ignition key. Pull the locks yourself and bring them to locksmith and either fit a key or pin to match. Another option, order all new locks and replace as a set.

If the door locks were never used, they may be frozen. Spray graphite lube or WD40 in the lock.

Yup... just need to be lubed up and worked. May take awhile but they WILL come free. Just keep spraying WD 40 in them & working the key.

BTW... Once you get them working again... USE the key from time to time.

Thanks for the advise. A little less than 5 minutes of time and some WD40 fixed the locks.
