I was able to get my SS brake hoses in today that I got from CTperformance. They fit great and werent bad to install. The hardest part of course is bleeding out thwse massive brake lines. I was never any good at getting the air out of these lines and I didnt get any better today. I went through 3 whole bottles of brake fluid, the big ones and I was still getting air. I started from the furthest point with my mighty vac and started pumping. Over and hour later im still pulling bubbles out. There had to be an easier, like maybe something electric?
3 bottles of fluid and still aire means you are getting air in the system or are trying too hard, start at the rr first, then the lr, then the rt ft, then the lf. the system should self bleed, just crack the bleeder open and gravity will do the rest, if it wont work for you then you can use the tried and true, 2 man method. the gravity bleeders are nice but sometimes they can be decieving, i think you may be ok with that much fluid going through, the air bubbles may be from the vaccum drawing so much volume it is actually drawing air from the gap in the threads of the loosened bleeder giving the false implication of air in the system.
Thanks Joe. The fronts I dont have much trouble getting done. Its the rears that get me. I cant seem to get a steady flow of fluid with the vac. I will try again tomorrow with a friend. If that fails ill look for leaks. I didnt see any fluid coming from anywhere though.
Joe,
Gravity bleeding worked out great. Thanks to you I can now bleed this truck. I would have been there all day pumping away. Only took about an hour before fluid was steadily dripping from all the bleeders.
I have used the vacuum method...unless you have a perfect seal on the bleeder screw and the hose connection point, you will get air sucked into the vacuum hose. There was probably no air in the system long before you stopped it just did not seem so...
look at the bright side: Now you have all new brake fluid in your system....
