The truck is stock not lowered to the ground or jacked to the sky just stock. I tow a 10,500lb trailer and it's a daily driver yea likes It's going to be an off roader not. for that I use a Merc unimog. Let me know what ya think I don't want t couch ride and not a race car rattle you're teeth out ride either.
I hope I have answered any question that might come up. Let me know Thanks!
Matt
For the majority of Excursion owners its either the Ranchos or the Bilsteins. IMO I'd opt for the Ranchos mainly because of their adjustability from, what is it? 1-9 I believe, 1 being the softest setting and 9 being the firmest.
I replaced my factory shocks w/ bilsteins and am very happy. The adjustables might be nice, but for me I didnt figure I would ever mess with adjusting them.
I bought the Bilsteins and just installed them on my truck. I am very pleased with the ride and handling. The shocks were something around $260 shipped, from one of the sponsors on this site, www.shockwarehouse.com. They have a discount code (I believe "fordtrucks"). That is definitely the best bang for the buck you can get.
The ride is a bit harsher than it was before, but then again that's because the old shocks were dead. I definitely believe it was the right choice.
By the way, shocks on this truck are ridiculously easy to change. Ford did a really good job of making it a quick and easy job. You'll have it done in no time!
FWIW, I've had both the Rancho 9000 adjustables on my '01, and Bilsteins on my '05. Once I installed the Ranchos, I set 'em at the mid-level & never touched 'em again. I prefer the ride quality from the Ranchos over the Bilsteins, and will install another set of Ranchos on my '05 at the next shock change. The Bilsteins are too stiff IMHO.
I installed the Bilsteins. What a difference. Got mine from eShocks.com. Shockwarehouse didn't have what I needed in stock and they never answered their phone when I called (yes, I adjusted for time zone). Just wanted a good, dependable shock I didn't have to worry about adjusting.
