The up-pipes connect to the back of the turbo, so if you are pulling the turbo, you have to disconnect that v-band clamp that holds the up-pipes to the turbine inlet. You don't have to remove any of the lower bolts for the up-pipe, such as the ones at the manifold.

There is no gasket that mates the up-pipes to the turbo. There is a pin on the pipe flange that aligns to a hole on the back of the turbo, and that's about it. The donut gaskets you might be thinking of are on the bottom of the y-collector. If your turbo is already off and you suspect those donut gaskets are leaking, then you have the perfect opportunity to replace the donuts or swap out for the bellowed up-pipes. You'll see the y-collector right in front of you when you pull the turbo off.

ok yes that is where I was going. I do have a small up pipe leak and will do new up pipes eventually. but I need to put a turbo on this truck first.
I was not sure if that collector was part of the turbo or a seperate.
