The hoses from the airfilter go into a plastic junction that drasticly restricts the airflow. What have others here done with that? And how does it run and does it pass emissions tests okay doing modification? Thanks

The air horns as they are called. Yes, lots of people remove them and gain power with no ill effect.
I would think a huge MPG improvement would come with it as well.
Well it's a 460 so it's gonna be thirsty no matter what, but yes, if you can create a substantial power increase then milage will improve when you're not using all that new power.
I did that on my truck didn't seem to do to much besides make it louder inside the truck.. I think i got .3 better in fuel mileage but weather and dirving conditions could of affected it...I would do it on your truck if i were you it free and takes no more than 20 minutes complete...
Cut the air horns out and throw them away, there are in there to reduce intake noise as Big_Man_ Brad stated. Your truck will sound like and old school 4 barrel when you open it up.
