5.4 interchangeability questions

I'm looking at a 1999 F250 2WD with a blown 5.4 for cheap, and was wondering what year range of engines would work as donors?

Thanks in advance!

1999-2003 will work as a direct bolt in. Those should be all PI (Performance Improved) engines. 97-98 were not PI and most 04-up are 3V engines and are a totally different animal.
Also 04 Superduty 5.4L are the same as the 99-03 F150, but have different intake and exhaust manifolds I believe.

THANKS for the quick reply.

"most 04-up are 3V engines and are a totally different animal. "

Different as in totally different cab harnesses or other parts that exclude swap even if you have a donor wreck?

I assume that 04 and up 3-valves have everything changed. Computer, Emissions, Gauges, Wiring, Ect... Could be done but not worth the effort of 6 months of hacking and splicing together.

I've priced complete engines for $1750 in se mich. You would have all the pullys and stuff so go for a remanufactured if you want reliable.
