I picked up a variety of "blend" bottles" the last time our bioplant had a seminar. The 100% bio with be solid ice at 32 degrees F. The 60/40 will last to about 25 degrees before its pretty much a solid slime and the 80/20 will last to about 20 before it's done.
Maybe I was wrong, I got my info from the bioforum, but my mind may have twisted it a little since its been a while. The reason I rememebr it (sort of) is from the Fulemister 2 ads in the diesl power books. I was looking into getting one of those POS devices until I really started to learn. Then , not so much......
I'm not 100% sure on this Todd but I think every soy plant is a little different on their product specs. But anyway, if it's getting cold you will want to stay away from any strong blends. It's a big headache. lol
Yea, bio, just as an liquid, will jell up.
The methanol in the bio is the only think keeping it from freezing after 32F
The rest is just a mix of water and natural oils, which have a low freezing point.
While bio is great, what the bio is made of matters also, such as soy, corn, grass, WVO.
I think WVO will last till 15F, unsure.
Drying and washing your fuel properly helps.
As with anything, in a cold climat, except for gas, you will always want to run an anti jell additive.
With the bio i wouldn't worry much about loss of lubrication since its the best lubrication additive there is.
