exhaust
I am starting off with scratch with my exhaust, someone before me took off the stock exhaust and welded up a straight h pipe with no catalytic converters. I have no idea how they thought it was going to pass smog I guess they just bribed the guy I dont know that's what you get for buying a car from a family member.
I am following the edelbrock build up and I've been looking at building a 3 inch exhaust set up with cats and possibly some thrush mufflers probably h pipe,
My first question is will 3 inch hurt my performance? I am shooting for around 350 to 400 horse power. is 3 is too big what would you suggest.
My second questions deals with the dreaded emissions test, i have seen catco CTO-6007 converters for like 50 bucks a piece and they looked promising until I read that they were only good up to 5.9 liter engines, I am running a 400 which is 6.6 liter, will these clean up my exhaust up enough to pass? I am planning to use dual cats instead of one will that help?

I think a pair of 2.5"s should be plenty but if ground clearance isn't an issue, two 3"s won't hurt.
