First of all you guys are awesome in your knowledge!!! I am in awe of the stuff that you have come up with!!! So now if you can awe me again I have 97 250 psd auto 4x4 ext cab. On start up it wants to loap like it is cammed up something fierce, I woln't do it all the time, warm, cold doesn't matter I give it a goose on the go pedal and it smooths right out and purrs like it should. Any ideas on where to start?
TRS (Transmission Range Selector) on the side of the tranny. Replacing this has been known to solve a loping idle like you described. You can get them a Autozone: http://www.autozone.com/N,15700218//...eResultSet.htm
Also the oil type and condition will cause this. If you have a few thousand miles on the oil, change it and see if it goes away. Usually the case. Synthetics like 5w-40's have a better resistance to romping on startup, as the oil flows better to the injectors.
I wouldnt get the one from autozone. I did and it went out 5 days after i got it and it dint fix my problem like it should. It left me on a the side of a dirt road where i was fishing and i had to jump the started solenoid to get home. I went and bought one from Ford and it fixed my OD off light flashing and has been on there for a good 2 months or so with no problem.
If you get through all the fixes these folks have recommended and you STILL have issues, let me know. I had a similar problem and it ended up being a dieing IDM, BUT! that is an expensive part, and wouldn't want you to consider that until you cover all the other possibilities
Nope, usually they will just do it. I would take my truck in to let them put one in, but aside from the fact they aren't touching my truck, it's already got one.
