Thump on acceleration

I get a thunk in the back end of my truck when I come off a stop. I can make it go away if I ease onto the pedal. I've checked my toolbox and around the truck to see if anything's rolling around. Have you guys experienced this before? I hope it's not backlash. I had my drive shaft rebuilt and it still didn't go away. The drive shop said it didn't seem to have any backlash at all.

The slip joint on the rear drive shaft has been known to do that. It can have too much, too little or the wrong grease. My bet goes for the wrong grease, it's ford specific stuff IIRC. I 'll see if i can find the spec.

I thought about that, but I just had the entire shaft rebuilt (new u-joints, support bearing, balancing) by a very reputable shop. I don't think that's what it is. I might call them and make sure they did the slip joint but i don't think they would take the whole thing apart without cleaning that up.
