Yes I tow a 34 foot toyhauler triple axel. 9000 pounds dry. we estimate 14K with water, bikes, quads, gear fuel and the rest of the junk..... I am hoping the 4.88's and the 35 tires will make a great pairing....

Hensley Arrow Question

How would the Hensley respond to a truck with no sway bars? I'm considering running my F250 without the sway bars. This might work if the Hensley's performance would be the same if the truck suspension was soft.

You can see how soft in the gallery. F250 Articulation

Otherwise, I'll have to design and machine quick release antisway bars

The HA (Hensley Arrow) really doesn't care if your truck has sway bars...

Now your truck may not react as YOU would like to the inputs FROM the TT as hitched thru a HA...

The HA works to keep the trailer and truck IN LINE. It is kind of a weird sensation that you feel the TT PUSH against the truck to keep things in line...I'd imagine if the truck was floating...you'd get some swagger induced by that pushing...

Not having sway bars tying the frame to the axles...well I can only venture a guess that there would be some wiggle to that input from the trailer onto the truck THRU the hitch (BTW I'd bet ANY hitch would do this)...the HA style IMO would be BETTER at controlling the overall stability.

I mention HA 'style' because there is another manufacturer out there now. ProPride that is selling a hitch designed by Jim Hensley (the original designer of the HA)...pricing between the two have been well in the favor of ProPride so far...but I don't know if Hensley has any specials.

Is your truck a complete air ride?

You'd also need to know what your 'normal' hitch ride height is...I'm not sure if there are limitations on the HA style stinger DROP...these hitches have unique hitch bars...

Did I confuse you any?...if so...to NOT hijack this thread any further...PM me.

Thanks,
joe.

You`ll enjoy the 4.88 gears it will excellerate like it did when it was stock and power wise will now not have a problem towing your proposed weight!

Good luck!

One other thing, the lower the gears the more heat that will build up. see if you can get a higher capacity finned rear diff cover. this will help cool the gear lube. note how small the new pinion is compared to the old pinion and you`ll see what I`m talking about.

Differential Covers for Gear Protection

He's absolutly right! I've run 4:88 previously and now 5:38. Mag HyTec makes a great diff cover. Extra capacity and finned. I think it is a great solution. Oh, you will have some gear noise and avoid towing heavy loads for the first 500 miles. You'll thank yourself in the long run.
