Headers are the way to go.. They were best power gain on my truck so far...I would get the super 40's they seem to have a better tone than the regular 40...

I had a super 40 on a 300 six and it sounded GOOD, and it seemed to have more throttle response than just the glass packs. I just didn't know what to do on the big block.
Welp....I like glasspacks.....kinda obvious...you can hear me coimin 1/2 a mile away (literally)

Only 1/2 a mile??? I'd really hate to cap off my straits, but I think I'm going to have to. I had a glass pack on it for a while, and it didn't have much of a tone. It had a big block FlowMaster on it when I bought it, and you couldn't tell it from a stock muffler. It blew up on me when the EGR valve got stuck, thats when I said the heck with mufflers.
did you have the stock cat on there? ford's cats are like big corks..
what header do yall like with the super 40 muffler, i had a 40 series muffler on a 4.6 v8 and loved it
I'm with you on that. I ran a 3.5" cat back for several years with no muffler and it sounded great, nice and mellow, but not loud at all. The only thing 'muffling' was the cat. I recently removed the cat and man, that thing is loud now (as would be expected when running a straight). But the thing that I was surprised by was how much better the truck ran. I have removed cats on previous vehicles and yes it was louder, but it never made such a big noticable difference in the accleration of the vehicle.
i have hedmann headers with a single 3" exhaust into a flowmaster 70 series its not as loud as the 40s but it is a bolt up kit from flowmaster which makes it cheaper and easier to install
There is nothing wrong with Flowmasters. I know eveyone has there pref, but I think that the flowmaster sound is the best. I have Magnaflows on my Mustang, its is pritty quiet. With long tubes, off road x pipe, and the magnaflow catback. Flowmasters fow good and always sound good. Dynomax mufflers from what I have seen fall apart.
Yeah, flowmasters have a decent sound. btw, pretty soon we'll be setting some sound clips on the site so u can hear the difference...
