351W tranny question
I have an 85 4x4 that came with a 302 FI. Its been long gone and a 351W is in its place and no computer...straight Holly 600. My question is it has a AOD tranny in it now and it wont let the engine turn any high rpm's before it shifts out. Cant sling mud with the others..lol what trans will swap out with it?

Shift points should be adjustable. These folks sell parts & trans, AOD and others.
The AOD has some issues and a beef up is never a bad idea.
However, as you will see, a killer C6 can be had for half that of an AOD. So if you abandon overdrive, a C6 is the way to go.

here what I did to my c6 after I spent a fortune on a aod. I put the E4OD gear set into a c6

Oh yea...conanski...the cable is hooked up and have played with so much that it hates me. I just cant get the AOD to do it for me. Thanks again

While I was screwing with the aod I learned a lot of things.....The TV cable has nothing to do with when it shifts,do not adjust it for that reason.... It should be set with a guage on the pressure port of the trans....it's not a downshift cable......
and if it's out of adjustment it will trash the trany in no time at all...most junk aod are so because the TV cable was not adjusted properly

Why is it so bad? GM did the same on the 700R4's. Setting the cable isn't rocket science and can be done in 1 min like at the factory. This will easily allow you to drive to the transmission shop to have them set it up perfect.

most people think it's a downshift cable ... I've seen it more than once.... guys will play with it trying to get it to shift later or whatever...5 miles later it's junk.
