Usually I can search thru threads and find the info I'm looking for....however, this time I can't seem to find what I'm looking for.....
So, here is my issue...when I leave a stoplight, at about 1700-2000 rpm, the truck seems to be shuddering slightly. It isn't a really bad issue yet, but I'd like to figure it out before it gets worse......When it is shuddering, it seems to have a lot less power.
I am due to change my fuel filters, so that is one thing that will be done by the weekend. I have also had the under valve cover wire harness come loose, and I suppose that it is possible this could be a re-occurance of that, but symptoms aren't as severe as when that happened before.
I have also checked the turbo, no play and all fins look nice and sharp with no chips.
Also to give you more info, my truck is an 01, 7.3 with cpr fuel system, 6637 filter, otherwise stock......
We are going to need more info. Does it do this all the time whether hot or cold? Only happen when starting from a stop? Does it do it any other time under different conditions?
I am assuming there is no SES light but perhaps it has a code. Can you have it scanned? If no one is close by, I know most small shops will scan a truck for $25-50.
have someone with a scan tool ckeck your injectors!
I can tell you right now that one of them has failed without scanning.
They do that, they will work ok at idle but then when you call on them to do some work and the worn out one won't fire.
well im not going to rule out an injector problem....
I paid even closer attention to the symptoms today...I only notice the shuddering in 1st and 2nd gears. My truck is an auto trans that is the notorious 4R100 tranny...does that change any ideas?

Not really, but you never know. While you may have a diode tranny, that is not one of the symptoms. What does it do when you are in OD and locked and you try to accelerate?
Doing it all the time could be an injector or harness connection problem. Just in certain gears is a mystery explained by a crappy injector that is only felt there. So go out on the interstate and get in OD locked up. Roll on the accelerator pedal and see what happens. Bring it down as low as it will go without unlocking and roll on there too. Post back.

Had to work late tonight....but on the way home....tried the test you asked for....it felt nice and smooth in all gears except 1st and 2nd. So I'm still looking for the cure here..........
I too would suspect a weak or faulty injector. The way these things idle it makes it hard to tell if one is partially firing, or weak, but when the engine is under a load, that one not contributing makes a difference. I suspect an electrical problem in the injector such as a weak/faulty armature, which doesnt throw a code because the injector technically receives the electrical signal and fires to ground, however the armature doesnt move the rest of the injector below it.

That's exactly what was happening with my rebuilt injectors that were less than two years old. One of them wasn't working unless there was a lot of throttle applied.
