460 intercepter
What can you guys tell me about the intercepter heads? Iam tring to decide on a set of 460 CJ heads that i have if they would be better.I use my 1979 F350 4x4 for mud drags.I was just curious which might produce better numbers.Thanks

If I were you, I'd go with the CJ heads depending on the year of them. The Interceptor heads basically only came with bigger valves, possible adjustable valvetrain (not sure on that). The early CJ and Pre-73' heads were all closed chamber heads which produced MUCH power, especially in the lower end. From what I have found, the early heads will out perform Interceptor heads. I built a 460 for my 79' Thunderbird and I had a chance to get a set of Interceptor heads, but I opted for the set off of a 71' Lincoln Mark IV because they are the early design.

As in the early Boss 302 heads, Ford initially went with too big of valves/ports. The intercepters are more designed for "street use" and will give you more torque. If your drag racing go with the CJ's for top end power, for making power below 5,000 RPM go with the intercepters.
