Berkeley redux...

Seems there is going to be a city council meeting this Tuesday night in Berkeley about the Marine recruiting office. This one ought to be a doozy as word has it that people on both sides of the spectrum are even coming in from out of state for this one. Could be a real theater here for the pundits, blogs and newscasters...

Berkeley; Greek word meaning "armpit".

I prefer we not recruit in enemy territory.
The military has the proper internal political outlook and we do not need liberals. Any serious recruits from Berkeley will travel to enlist. We don't need the others.

It should be interesting to see what becomes of this quagmire. I still cant believe that a town, no matter how liberal, has the ***** to try and expel the very same people that make the sacrifice that give them their rights to try and expel them. Its sad and disturbing. These hippies, commies, and other protesters need to open their eyes, quit their 60's laden acid trip and get over it. Their cause was washed up in 1973.

They say our Marines are intruders in their city, I say Berkeley City council and any residents that support them are intruders in my Country! I vote we kick them out on their asses!

Don't blame acid for those losers. Thanks to biker culture (the real bikers, not the Malcom Forbes wannabe midlife-crisis closet queens) we know that massive chemical recreation does not automatically produce Leftist wimps.
The HA had no problem kicking *** at Altamont.

What does the concert at Altamont, which left one dead, have to do with Berkeley?

That was a response to :
"These hippies, commies, and other protesters need to open their eyes, quit their 60's laden acid trip and get over it."

I'm pointing out that acid wasn't responsible for the Communist hippies, and that healthy contemporary examples of partying exist. HA types (equally fond of chemical recreation) beating down hippies is fine with me, and their example of taking no crap while providing security laudable. Bikers are proof that the 1960s produced some worthwhile civilian trends.

OTOH the only good place for a Communist is under an exploding napalm canister. Berkeley deserves all the vilification it gets (though it obviously WANTS the attention) and will make a nice lightning rod for anti-Left Coast reaction.

Communist-hippies? "Almost" an oxymoron.

HA are fond of beating "anyone" down who gets in their way, including their own inter gang issues.

Providing security by force and killing at a concert is 'laudable"?

Bikers? Do you mean HAs? Being proof that the 60's produced some worthwhile civilian trends? Maybe some trends.
But also produce murder and mayhem, along with other "gangs".

Berkeley doesn't deserve the vilification it deserves. It's the city council and "some" of the citizens that does.
There are a lot of people who do want the Marine recruiting office to stay right where they are.
Hard to believe?

Have you ever been to Berkeley?

Not everyone here on the "Left Coast" is anti-military, or communist hippies.

Ain't that the truth. Probably more people in Berkeley actually at odds with what the city did than with the city truth be told. That is why I said this would be good for the pundits, newscasters and bloggers as most people in the country are extremely clueless about anything in California. So their opinion will be based are what they are told in print or on the air which in reality is someone else's opinion and ulterior motive.

Anyway the Council is still in session and will be for some time. Seems everyone gets one minute to speak and since almost everyone is there this could go on a long time...

And we have our Board of Stupidvisors, who by the way, lost our chance to have the U.S.S. Iowa berth here in S.F. as a museum, along next to the U.S.S. Pampanito sub.

They even wanted to stop the Blue Angels from flying over the city, during
our Fleet Week.

Luckily, it was voted it down. I need my Fleet Week/Blue Angels fix.

Personally, I think Blue Angels Solo #6 should do a "sneak pass" over city hall. (jk)
