Yes Mike, common rail...

Looking at the title it's actually a 2003.5

2003 is/was the introductory year of the high pressure, common rail Cummins 5.9.

The advantage of the earlier versions would be the electronics, or lack thereof.

Every time I think about this, I remember my visit to Beans and looking at his CTD in the engine bay and listening to it run. Seemed I could get in there and stand on either side of the block to work on, well, anything. I also held a 5.9 rod and 7.3 forged rod in my hand. What a joke our rods are. Look like they belong in a lawn mower compared to the Cummins factory unit.

Nothing wrong with it obviously, I'd just have to learn new tricks and methods.

And $2500 for a mint 2000 7.3 sounds low?

Honestly Mike, my Crowers aren't anything to write home to mom about, but still make a mockery of stockers. Although I've seen cryo'ed forged stockers last with more than 600 hp with NO issues.

But hey, it's a 7.3 PSD. I've never heard anyone say a 7.3 is weak, just makes power differently...

I'am no rocket sciencetist but i think you could over haul the 7.3 cheaper with all kinds of goodies for 10.000 dollars.

That looks like a 6.0 rod. The rod journal on the crankshaft is so wide that the bolt edges won't fit through the bore, so they tilt them like that.

Stop that, that was bad tuning. Doing things you shouldn't do. Mine are holding up fine thank you. I bet there has never been a bent PMR though. It's gonna break when it goes. The others/forged, they sometimes bend. Is that any better?

Ouch. That's scary, Kris. That's why I'm hoping the cheap-o DPP reman SS sticks & BB turbo won't cause me to have a pic like that in my own gallery.
