I have a 460 that came out of a 73 lincoln. WhenI took it down it was still factory. The mains and rods had ford 73 stamped into the journals..beside clevite77.
the crank ploished out but the blocked was punched to .40 over. It had a neutral flywheel on it (auto) and the front balancer and spacer was neutral ( no weights).
I put a 390 flywheel on it (manual) also neutral, the same balancer and put it in my 79 4x4. It has vibration when increasing the gas..to about 3500 then fades away and then comes back in as you go higher. Also I used a centerforce PP and Clutch, but it doesnt matter if its clutched or not...idle or driving. Its not a bad vib but still a vibration that I know should not be there. So can someone tell me where to go from here? I have taken it back out and made sure all was tight and secure...clutch and all.... Put it back in and same thing. Ran it without any belts to see if just maybe that was it but no such luck. Thanks...Andy B.
Sounds more like over advanced timing problem than a balance problem. A engine unbalance issue usually gets worse with rpm, unless you don't what to look (feel) for.
Thanks... Yes I did have the rotating assmebly checked. But
I did not say check it for balance, I said to do what it needed. Kinda took for granted that he would check all that. I did have the flywheel resurfaced. Took bout 15 mins for him to do it. I think if I have to pull it back out that I will get a new one. (
Flywheel) Thanks.........Keep em coming....
I don't think you have a balance problem. I would look for a miss. Possibly a vacume leak. I bought a truck that the guy thought had a balance problem. The brake booster was bad causing a vacume leak and a miss.
Got it fixed guys. It was a vacume problem. Like to have never found it. But I guess you have to sit back and listen to other minds to keep you on the right path sometimes. I just over looked a simple problem thinking I had a major problem. Thanks for all the help.....Andy b
