youre 19 let her go you build your carreer and if its meant to be she will come home to you .. its a longshot shes the one you will marry and be with the rest of your life .if shes the one this will work long distance .. in the long run your career is most important now as you arent in school and one day you will want to settle down and marry and you need something to offer..
If you really want to follow her then try and get a transfer there although i think youre making a mistake and yeah ive been in them same shoes
in 2000 my girl and I went to texas with 500 bucks a ford taurus and a chev lumina, 3 duffle bags with cloths a new born son and a box full of tools. it was the best move i EVER did in my entire life. if anyone knows where leggett Tx is theres nothing there either but piece and quiet. the only regret i have was coming back to wi a year and a half ago. id go with the girl man jobs come and go plants close people get layed off so theres realy no secure jobs anymore just the illusion there is,but a good chic will stay rite there next to ya forever
Yeah job wise, Michigan is the absolute last place you want to be. Although I'm starting to question your girlfriends reasoning, why did she decide on Michigan for college?
I'd ditch both job and clam (19 is way young to be serious about either trap), join the USAF, and travel the world partying for a few years on Uncle Sams dime.
Wow MephisSenior what a downer post to read! What happened to eat dessert first?!
I say go with the woman.
Don't want to hijack this thread, Godbless. It's not about me. It's about the young man that started it.
However, after 25 years of marriage and my putting her through collage so she could get her degree and her RN. My ex decided she "needed her own space." Whatever the heck that means. My 41 y.o. daughters best friend just did the same thing to her husband of 20 years. In her case she "needed to find herself." I could tell you about others but why bother. I'm sure everyone here gets my point. I also have many friends that are still happy after 40+ years of marriage.
I was on the job for 29 years when I got passed over. I was more than qualified for the position. It went to someone 8 years my junior in both age and time with the company. Someone I had trained in fact. When I asked the man that made the decision why? He told me he felt we were equally qualified. He decided to give the job to the other guy because he had a degree and I didn't. (weather or not that was a lie doesn't matter at this point.) He suggested I might want to get my degree. I was 50 at the time. I decided instead to get out of debt, save as much as I could and retire early. I did just that 12 years later. Bottom line is life is a crap shoot. You pays your money and you takes your chances. There are no guarantees. Hence my remark about eating desert first.
The 2 incidents occurred barely a year apart. Am I bitter? Yes, some. That doesn't change the fact that life happens. The odds are better then 50/50 if CDR marries his G/F. At some point in the future they'll divorce for some reason. I hope that doesn't happen. But the reality is it MIGHT. The question is, does he want to give up his current job which HE thinks has good prospects, and take a chance going to Michigan. Where his job prospects are dim according to what I'm reading here. With hopes he'll be one of the lucky ones. That it doesn't happen to him and that at 19 he's found a "keeper." Only he can answer that. He does however have to look at the harsh realities of life as well as what his heart is telling him. The mere fact that he even asked the question, tells me he has doubts.
Whatever his decision, I wish him well.

Thanks for all the opinions but I've found my answer:

Seriously, I like getting opinions from people who don't know me. Makes things seem a little clearer.
women dump men that aren't working...love wears out.\
Just heard about a "study" it confirms what we always knew....women don't always look for well-endowed, strong, baby-making, fist-fighting studs. women want men with good earning potential
The other interesting fact I recently heard is that detroit, and the surrounding rust belt area has the highest amount of home foreclosures in the country...what that means ,,I don't know. Be careful out there...Love has screwed up many good men ...and women.

I thought Stockton, Ca. had the highest home foreclosures in the country; or maybe it did at one time.
