My mom's 2000 F-350 makes a weird clank when you turn all the way in either direction in 2wd. This started soon after i replaced the uni-bearings, knuckle seals, and dust seals; on both sides.
I'm not sure what it is, but it sounds like a rotating clank or a thud, more like a dunt than a twang. almost like the u-joint is clanking as it spins or something. I thought the axle doesnt spin when its not in 4wd?
I might have put something in wrong but i cant think of what.
If your hubs aren't locked in, I would check the sway bar and sway bar link bushings. If those check out okay, the next step would be to check out the ball joints on both sides.
