I hate this Auto trans !
I have a 05 F-250 6.0L, 4X4, auto trans. About 2 weeks ago I found a big red spot in the drive. Well the trans cooler line was leaking. The stealership charged me 130 bucks to fix the fitting at the trans tailshaft.
Well guess what its leaking again and the trans is shifting like crap now too. Its full of fluid but it feels like it is surging for a gear and in the morning after a 10 min warm up it takes about 20 sec to go in gear and when it does go in it slams in gear and jerks hard. I changed the trans filter 5k ago fluid has always been sp.
I have 2 questions here
1: what is the factory warrenty on the trans ( I thought it was 60k I only have 40k on it )
2: What could be making this happen ? ( the surging )

If you have a leak in the system you may be pulling air into the system causing foaming. That will cause the problems you are describing.
The trans in under a 3X36 warrenty if i remember corectaly.

If it was my truck I would crawl under it tomorow and snug up the fittings. Start it with the wheels properly chaked and have someone pull it through the gears to see if that stoped the leak.
Warning. if you are married and have good insurance being under the truck with it running and in gear is a BAD idea!!

She wouldn't do that to me as she would have to do the yard work ! She has already replaced everything else with toys and told me if one of them could do yard work she wouldn't need me
