code po445

since my check engine light doesn't
work i went autozone today again
and had them see if any codes
has shouwn up since i bought the
truck, the 1st trip showed no codes
today it showed po445 anyone know what this
means? 98 f150 4.6

P0445 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted .

Usually means that the solenoid valve for the EVAP system back by the gas tank has failed.

so can i see it from under the truck?

and what does this do, there's
no smell of gas,and no leaks.

It has nothing to do with smelling gas.

The solenoid operates part of the emissions control system that controls evaporative pollution.

The solenoid is mounted on the carbon canister which is under the bed, near the spare tire carrier.
