Truck Quit, NEED HELP!

My buddy's 2003 F250 quit on him yesterday. Put the truck on a scanner but nobody at that shop really knows diesels. the truck threw a code but I am having trouble finding it. He told me the code is P1738. Mitchell does not recognize this code and was wandering if any of ya'll know what it means, or if that is even an actual code for these trucks.

P1738 Shift time error

The tranny took longer to shift than it should. How many miles, and when was the last time he had the fluid changed??

This would not have caused it to quit though.

Have to agree with KRDiesel. A trans related DTC should not make the engine quit. Are you sure that was the only code it put out?

thanks, I am not the one that was checking the codes so no I am not sure that that was the only one. I will check back with him to see.
