Will Not Start Now

My Son Had To Unhook Fuel Line At The Filter . He Had To Pump Out Gas & Diesel From Tank. He Had To Turn On The Key To Get The Pump To Work & At The Same Time The Glow Plugs Go On. Then The Pump Stops. Turn On The Key Again To Pump Out Gas. Had To Do This Many Times To Get Out About 7 Gals. Filled With New Diesel & Qt. Of Oil, ( Weather Was Warm ) Started & It Drove Fine. Could He Have Damaged The Glow Plugs Doing Above. Wont Start In The Cold.

There are others here that have experienced mixing gas w/ diesel - hopefully they will see this and comment. I do not think it helped your cause adding a quart of oil to the diesel (if I read your post correctly). A lot of problems can develop when additives that can cause soot in the exhaust (circulated back through w/ the EGR) are used.

I do know that some are using ASHLESS 2 cycle oil as a fuel additive, and they swear by it. Just remember, the 6.0L engines are more demanding of good fuel. The ratio that some use for the 2 cycle oil (as I recall ) is 128:1 which would be 1 quart for 32 gallons (apprx). Anything more than that I would think is NOT advisable. Personally, I feel there are better additives than 2 cycle oil (like biodiesel), but to each his own.

I really doubt that he would have ruined the glowpugs.

I don't know if it damaged the glow plugs, but if it ever happens again, you can disconnect the fuel line and wrap a rag around a blowgun from an air compressor (20 psi or so) and pump the fuel out of the tank that way.

I Made A Mistake

My Question Should Have Been In The 7.3 Section. Batteries Good. It Turns Over Fast. The Weather There Has Not Warmed Up. To Be Able To Start Except With Some Starting Fluid ( Which Is Not Good ) The One Time It Started Was After He Pumped Out All The Garbage, Filled & Installed New Fuel Filter & New Fuel In Tank & That Day It Was About 60 Degrees.

I would not advise this procedure at all as any spark in this now oxygen rich environment will result in an explosion. I would rather suggest that you put a vacuum on the discharge hose (small electric fuel pump) to draw the fuel out rather than introducing additional oxygen to the mix.
