its exhaust heat wrap, its off the 6.0's down pipe. i put alot of banks kits on at the dealership and i got to keep all of the stock stuff. its a thick foil like outer case with fiberglass in the middle, i can actually grab my downpipe after a hard pull and it doesnt burn me. i wrapped just the dp to keep the heat off the floor and the tranny. i would imagine you can get it from summit or jegs, or even a truck place
Looks like summit has several products. The wrap that they are selling is only rated for 390 degrees, so I am not sure if it would work on the downpipe.

i guess i shouldnt say its hard to bend, it is easy to bend, its hard to get it perfect around the different angles of your dp, but its easy to get it close and the hose clamp does the rest as well as keeping it from moving on you. its better then wrap because it wont absorb the moisture and wont rot your pipe, if water gets behind it then it just runs down the pipe or burns off when the truck is running
that is exactly what i did, i just cut that piece to show what was inside of it
Your stuff from the 6.0 looks different than my stock heat shield. The one on my 7.3 looks like a sheet of aluminum formed around the pancaked shape of the downpipe. It looks hard to re-shape unlike the stuff you have. I was curious if anyone had re-used the 7.3 heat shield.
ah, i wouldnt waste the time with the metal shield, its not really that effective, the header wrap is more effective then that stuff but the fiberglass insulation is best in my opinion. it keeps teh heat in the pipe, keeps the water out, and you can touch it with out getting burned
