I would like to paint my intercooler pipes the same color as my truck. It old man beige and tan however its still a beast on the road being an excursion. What is a good brand name paint that would coapply well to the pipes and actually with stand the heat from the engine.
I don't know the exact temperature that you can expect on Intercooler components, but I expect it to be much lower than exhaust parts. Exhaust parts would be hopeless to paint with color, but the Intercooler may very well take lacquer with good results.
I used 500* paint on some exhaust manifolds once and it all burnt off while breaking in the cam. My brother used 1500* paint on his manifolds but we wont be running that motor for a few more weeks. I did use 1200* paint on some headers once, it head up real well except for the fact I didn't clean them as well as I should have and the rust is causing the paint to flake off. I'm not sure what temp your intercooler pipes will reach, but I thought I could give you some baselines regarding temp. The 2 paints I used were the duplicolor with ceramic. I believe my brother used VHT.
The innercooler pipes can be painted with 500* paint but would use 1200* ceramic since they are close to the turbo outlet. Mine have been painted for a year and still look good.
