making yellow OEM fog lights ?

on my o6 SD i want to make the OEM fog lights "selective yellow". i am going to tint the fog light lens with duplicator metal cast yellow

what i am wondering is if anyone else has done this and if so did they paint the outside of the lens or take apart and paint the inside

im leaning towards heating and splitting the lens from the housing and painting the backside of the fog light lens so the color will not be chipped off from lens wear and tear.
what i am wondering is if the fluted rim on the inside of the lens will take the paint in a uniform manner, or would it be better just to paint the out side where it is smooth all the way to the housing

i have a spare pair i am working with and have split he lens from the housings before

thanks

Make sure the yellow fog lights are legal in your state, when I had my Yota runner I had yellow fog lights and got pulled over for having them on, the police officer said the colors red, green, yellow, or anything resembling emergency vehicle use was illegal, got off with a warning

you can also look around at replacing the bulbs with something of a different "temperature" you could get led's in the 1500 to 3500 range or, if you really want bright, go with the HID's & go with the same color temps
although I went with the "daylight" white for my headlight & fogs, I only paid about $100 for both sets in HID
(I'm not quite sure if I should mention where I got them, but they've got a full lifetime warranty & lot of people I know swear by them

I think you got off with a warning because the officer was talking out of his backside.

ALL cars and trucks have forward facing yellow lights.

Ever consider Lamin-X. It would be uniform and provide protection to the lense, and won't flake off.

Looks like it would be about 15 bucks and a lot less hassle

started with the Lamin-x, couldn't get it to follow the shape of the lens and it didn't tint the edges so wen looking at truck from ands u saw a white ring

i don't believe there is a good selective yellow bulb for the OEM light. and i am not a fan of or HID retrofits

Those were my thoughts also, I guess it was more of a routine check, and after all it was on the back roads, where the sand dunes are at.

In that case, he was just mad because you were having fun and he wasn't.
