I just did a pretend order for those exact tires with shipping on the site I mentioned earlier. $947.12......that is with shipping, you could have em mounted an balanced for a total of around $80 locally I bet! So.....what did they say about price matching?
The four wheel drive shop said no way. The guy over at Tire Max (hard core biker guy) said he would beat the 4x4 shop silly and would throw in road hazard on them. If he'll go $1100 I will go with him. If not then I will probably order online and get them mounted and balanced somewhere. A guy that works for me (he used to bust tires before he worked for me) says he might have access to a mount/balance machine and he might be able to get us on it for a case of beer. He's checking on that deal today.
FWIW the biker dude at the tire store is actually really cool and his customer service skills are second to none. That's another reason I am leaning towards him. He let me bug him with questions about load ranges and tires and wheel sizes and let me look around out in the shop at different tires and was just an all around good guy. Never blew me off and acted like he really wanted the business. Plus, he said my truck was "bad ***" and would like like a *!@## beast" with those tires. My kind of guy.
Set of four, mount, balance, full road hazard, taxes and out the door for $1100 cash. They are installing them today if I get out of jury duty in time.
Jury duty took ten minutes and they cut me loose. The tire guy called as I was walking out of the courthouse and said he had them and he was ready to go. Shot over and had them put on. Here's the first pics. I know, she's dirty. It's been raining on and off here and I haven't wanted to wash her yet and then with the new tires I wanted to hurry up and show you guys.
I know I said I was done but now I am thinking Bushwacker fender flares in black.....thoughts?
Truck looks great man! I tried to return your Pm but your box is full. Nice looking tires! I don't care much for the fares. I vote no on those. I looks great the way it is!
I will clear out the inbox. They must have changed the limit on those or something. Thanks for the compliment and the vote on the flares. That's one vote for no.
Scott, I may be incorrect but are those not a "foreign" made tire on your American Iron? Just teasin' ya even if they are. Look good. I am looking at their red headed stepchild...Nittos. I personally flip flop on the flares. Ilike them then I don't. So a non decision vote from me. Go with what YOU like though, not us.
Scott, that is one nice looking truck. You did well. As far as the flares, if you drive on non-hard surface roads, then go ahead and do them. They will save the paint from damage. Can't really decide till they are installed and you step back to see how it looks. Kinda late then.
Very nice looking truck you have there Scott. A little price but well worth the money from what I hear, they look great. As for the fender flares I like the ones that are on Mike and Jason's (Yellow401) truck. So I vote yes
Your truck looks great! Im a goodyear guy, but next set of tires I would like to try is those exact ones you have. You should keep us posted how they work for you on/off road, noise, wear, anything else you can think of.
I may have missed it but what ply did you end up with?
Thanks for the compliment. I had to drive by the grocery store window three times today just to look at her.
Those are Load range E, rated at 3860#s per tire. As for the noise they are a little louder than my BFG A/Ts that I was running. It's sort of a howl but it sounds cool to me.
I had a set of goodyear mt/r's on my f150, and although they were a pretty good tire, they were really noisy on the highway. Ive heard a few guys say the toyos are alot quieter.
