2nd fuel pump in 3 weeks
i bought this truck in the beginning of dec. had it for a few weeks started smelling fuel. couldent find the prob. leak got alot worse and found the leak coming from the pump under the turbo, it was leaking right out of the weep hole. replaced the pump, put maybe 1000 miles on it and the pump started leaking worse than the last when on a road trip, had to AAA back home. fuel pressure regulator is schimmed from when i got the truck, came with a DP tunner and i had a 15k mod for about 150 mi. took it back to stock for the road trip. any ideas about why the pump would go bad after only 1000 mi, got the pump form napa. any help would be very apprieciated. thank you, cody

i checked the banjo bolt, damp but not dripping. checked the fuel lines and they werent leaking eather. With a mirror you can see the fuel coming out of the weap hole at the very bottom of the pump, same as the last one. it is leaking enough that it made the clutch slip. lost about 1/2 tank in 20 mi trying to make it to the nearest fuel station to call a tow. thanks again.

i think i got it, i replaced the pump, checked the fuel pressure regulator b/c the guy said he had shimed it when i bought it. the spring was not sitting on its seat and was wedged in there tight and bent. i wanted to remove the bb and hope that would cure it. the bb was wedged and i wanted to get that out. is the bb suppos to sit down in the hole deep or out near the top. i tried picking it out and then drilling a small hole worked its way down to the botton of the hole i considered that fine and put it back together. if what i did was wrong please let me know. i just figured that the BB should sit down in the hole not at the top. thanks again, cody

The BB should sit at the bottom of the triangler piece and the spring sits on top of the BB.
Caution:
If the spring is bent (has a kink) an will not slide freely inside the trianglure piece your fuel pressure will increase over that of just the BB. You need to get a 100# fluid filled gauge and test the pressure at the schrader valve.
I found it to be the easest just to get a couple of brass fittings and mount the gauge in place of the schrader valve.
I had a kink in my spring and registered 74# w/o the BB and it would climb over 80# as I increased my speed. I changed springs and used the BB and now my pressure is 64# and climbs to about 68#.
