I need some ideas
It involves taking the bench seat out of the front, cutting it to make two regular seats and then putting a center consel from a expeition or navigator.
My problem is, I have a large speaker box across the backseat, holding 2 12 inch subs. I need to figure out how to put those subs under the seat, because if i'm going to lose front seat space I want to free up the whole backseat.
I know they make those kits to raise the backseat 2 inches to fit a box for 2 10 inch subs, but I don't want to buy new subs, I like the ones I have.
I measured today... and i'd have to raise that seat at least 2 and a half inches just to fit the subs in by themselves.... let alone the box they go in, and room for the subs to move.. so thats out of the question.
I've got a couple ideas, but help me brainstorm. And if anyone else has done anything like this pictures of your setup would be great.
and my truck is in my sig....
If that seat you were talking about (with the 3 12's) wasn't lifted, they would have been some pretty puny subs.. like i said, just to put mine under there (without the box) I'd have to lift the seat 2.5 inches.
I work in a fab shop.... so I can make a lift bracket as big as I want... but I think if you go any more than 2 inches, it makes it hard for someone to sit conformtably back there.
Just a thought, not telling you to go cut your seats

right now.. i'm thinking build kind of like a step.... with the small step under the seat and then the taller step would only be about and inch or two wide, and be as tall as the seat is. the front of the subs would be there and they would taper off into the small step...
Here i drew a dumb little picture in paint to explain what i'm thinking right now.

I dunno... i didn't think about it til i got to work.. i'll have to take some measurments tommorrow
