Guys, I'm new to the list as of a couple days ago. First let me say that I think this board and the folks who participate in it are great. Thanks to anybody and everybody responsible for making it work. My question is:
I want to convert a carbureted 460 to fuel injection for my 77 F-250. I'm not in a big hurry, so I want to do it right. I would like to do it with a Ford computer if possible. The aftermarket is VERY proud of their computers. Right now, the engine is completely disassembled and is being built from the ground up. It was originally a '70 or '71 429, but I don't know what it came out of. I'll get the numbers later, hopefully somebody can decipher it for me. I would prefer to use sequential injection (SEFI) instead of throttle body (TBI). Did Ford ever equip any 460 powered vehicle with SEFI? What would be involved with swapping in the computer out of a 5.0 Mustang? Depending on how large an air flow the MAF sensor of computer in the 5.0 can interpret, I would think the swap would be possible. Any ideas? I have lots of other information/questions if anybody wants to talk about it
To save aggrivation and not to mention headaches I would go with an aftermarket Holley Pro-Jection 700 or 900 cfm model. They are fairly simple install that will yeild higher h.p. & torque #'s. Just a thought.
twin turbo 460 using factory ford truck fuelie intake and heads with a tec ii by electromotive providing spark and fuel control. the efi heads are supposed to be an unknown performance gem according to a super ford article.
