thats my thinking! too many problems with the 7.3. and the repair prices! even if you do it yourself! im gona hear flack about this but hey i dont know what else to do! i switched jobs and i need my truck!to make a living and my ford is not doing it! you know were im going! just my vent about the ford truck i love but doesnt work!
Well aside from the alcohol i smell on your breath tonight, whats making you sell the truck? What's broken that you have to repair? you can't complain about upkeep costs and fuel prices, because if you need it to make a living, you need it.

have you gotten a compression, or cct done yet? you need to find someone close to you with a good diagnostic tool to help diagnose the problem. if you need the truck for work, then you know you need it. if you sell it the way it is, you will not get very much for it. if you fix and trade, you will have to trade for another since anything else would be a downgrade.
a friend is going to go get it! put it in hes garage and im gona fix it! again! just need a reliable truck are there any out there? this truck is just broke in i didnt have it the 1st 185,000 miles ive only had it a little over 15,000 miles.in that time,2 injectors one done by stealer, cold start problem, now broke again! im lost im at my witsend!
Was the edge on it when you bought it? I would be leary of buying a chipped truck since they tend to be hot rodded more. I'm still running 4 7.3's, all at or above 200k & don't have near the problems you do. Maybe a different truck might be a good idea.

That was one of the contributing factors when I bought my truck. It was unmodified in any way whatsoever. I knew it had been working hard pulling a 42 foot 5th wheel, but it is a 550 and designed for such use.
I still run stock tune today and find it quite good enough with the 4.88 rear axle.
I run out of rpm before the turbo has time to fully spool unless I'm pulling the trailer, then I'm speed limited by the sheer size and weight of everything.
yep, both of ours were totally un-modded when we bought them, worst thing to happen is pattys transmission, but it was plagued with the dreaded mechanical diode. both at almost 200K on each (180K and 190K) and happy so far

Unless this turns out to be something simple, I'm still guessing a different truck is in your future. I've got trucks at work with more miles, driven by people who don't have to pay the repair bills (but they do have to answer to me) that haven't had near the problems you've had. If you've lost your confidence in the truck I don't think you'll be happy with it.
Maybe a different 7.3 is all you need. Are there any options you wish you had on this truck?
