well i'm not really loving this home ownership right now... right after we bought the place i had to fix the leaky toilet... not a big deal except i broke the supply line in the process resulting in a big deal. thats done. now i notice something dangling from one of the old copper drains from the bath/kitchen sink... flick it and here its some calcium or crud from a pinhole in the copper wearing through. now i got a nasty hole in the main drain for the sinks...
guess i get to play plumber this weekend... looking over the rest of the copper doesn't look good. i'll end up replacing the whole plumbing before too long i figures...
I think that is why they call it the money pit but, I know how frustrating it is. We have spent the last two months getting everything ready for the new arrival and it seems like every time we start something, something else needs doing first. We are on the home stretch and should have everthing ready by the weekend. Baby should be here in about three weeks.
we just got back from another round of baby shopping... liquidation world has become my friend... i know though. i can see a lot of necessary stuff to do here along with the baby prep... going to ba a taxing couple of months i think... lol...not to mention taxes...
We were lucky friends or ours had their last child about two years before Amy so they just gave us all the stuff like crib, change table, high chairs and a pile of clothes so we didn't have to buy much.
Owning your own home and building equity is alot better than forever renting though it may not seem like it right now.
Plus you get to do renos/additions your way in your own home.
yeah you think i'd know this by now... i/we're planning an addition for the summer but perhaps i should focus on sone stuff that need immediate attention... i hate plumbing with a passion but the only guy i would get to do it is busier than heck and the rest of the guys would leave me a bill i'd have to make payments on.

Don't worry about that. After the bambino is born it gets better financially. We spent ALOT of money setting up for parenthood also.
As for the house, it seems to all happen at once in my case. Good thing I kinda know what I'm doing to fix things. I can't imagine having to pay someone to fix every thing that goes wrong.
Just think, you could be throwing your money away on rent. It will all pay off if you ever sell.
Reno's aren't much fun, but they're worth it. I'm in the middle of about 8 reno projects right now. 2 of which are rather major. The basement probably only needs a few solid days of attention and then the stairwell...... Oh well, I'm off to work on the truck!!!
