I did it once before I changed my coolant to Zerex-G05. Mine tested fine, but I didn't want to worry about it in the future. However, after my water pump went out on my I put the cheap stuff back in.
SCA = Supplemental Coolant Additive. It prevents cavitiation.
Lets see..... I drained the coolant last spring , changed the WP , coolant flush , new coolant , added 16 oz of SCA...mean't to get some test strips( have 16 more oz sitting on the counter)waiting to be added ............................
Oops, my bad

I have never tested or even thought about it in my truck,I didn,t know anything about it til here,we always used CAT antifreeze which I now know has the additive it was also used in my truck but I am going to start to check for sure now This time around I used John Deer green premix antifreeze with the proper additive
I test and have the test strips. Refurbished the entire system with all new hoses, coolant and distilled water and installed a coolant filter on October 2007.
No. I had a coolant filter on my 95 but when I added it I went to the Zerex G-05 coolant which already has SCA's so I decided testing and adding every now and then was just as easy. I just used a non additive coolant filter.
