I have the opportunity to trade one of my extra 460's for a complete 429 pi(so im told) I would like to know if there is anything outwardly visibe to show that it is in fact a PI. and does any one know the horse power and torque numbers on one?? One last question, what is the difference between a PI and a regular 429?? thank you in advance
I am no expert and still am learning about the older motors. I think that one of the main differences is that the valves and ports are alot bigger and maybe have a little higher compression.

Im not sure but a friend of mine just recently built a 429PI and he said that the intake manifold is the major difference between a regular 429 and a PI
well, you can look at the casting numbers on the heads. i wanna say that the castings are dove-aa or dove-ab. i'll check when i go home later today, i have a set in the basement for my 460. also, i think the valves(you'd have to pull it apart) are the same as a cj(2.25, 1.72). hope this helps.
429 c.j. head casting number is as follows D0OE-R this is the ONLY casting number for the 429 c.j. and the block should be a D0VE-A block 4 bolt main caps. C.J. later..
