Mass Air conversion

Just converted truck over to a mass air conversion. Check engine light came on after completion. Code 67-Neutral Drive Switch Circuit Open/ A/C on. What should I do for that.

Is the truck an automatic? Then you probably need to add/connect the neutral drive switch.

But in reality, you can ignore the code. It won't harm anything. Most vehicles don't even trigger a CEL for something like that. That input is only used to determine when to raise the idle 100 rpm or so when the transmission is in gear or the A/C is on.

Alternatively, you could just jumper the connection so that it detects continuity in the circuit when expected.

I assume this is pre '95/EEC-IV/OBD-1. 95% of the time, a KOEO 67 indicates that you performed the KOEO test with the transmission in gear. The computer expects to see the transmission in N during the test. Repeat the KOEO test, being sure the transmission is in N. If you still get a KOEO 67, then go over the neutral position switch circuit to make sure there are no problems.

In saying that, that applies to Ranger based vehicles that I'm familiar with. I don't know what applications use a KOEO 67 to refer to the AC system, but I expect it's a similar scenario. We'd have to know what you're working on.

Just ignore it. On a pre-OBD-2 computer, the CEL usually doesn't tell you much that you didn't already know. Generally the CEL on EEC-IV will accompany a rough running/low power/poor fuel economy engine. So pull the bulb out of the dash and be done with it.

What truck, what engine, what year?

As an example, on a 2.3L it can make a big difference if the computer thinks your A/C is on.
