This truck just continues to amaze me. I had almost identical 2005, but not the luxuries. I can remember being in frozen rain and never having a problem with my 2005 as heaters were always on, or so I was told.
With my new 2008 I just tolerated the frozen rain on the mirror. Today, I just happened to notice a controller button on the right side of the Climate Control panel. Two little icons. One for straight Defrost, on top, and on the bottom, a second controller button for the heated mirrors.
Went to the book and it confirmed there is now a switch for the heated mirrors, and to save someone else some heavy reading, only the big mirrors are heated, not the wide angle mirrors below.
heh...yeah, Ford listened to the feedback from all of the folks that did not like the "always on" heated mirrors. I think the switched version in the 08+ Super Duties is a nice, newly-added feature.
Yeah I use that switch every day!!! Love it. The heated mirrors will shut off after ten minutes of deforsting, then if you wnat more, just hit the button again!! Also the heated seat's switch is also on the dash, guess the older models the switch was on the seats them selves, and they heat up nice...worked great here today since it's 18 degree's F!!!
My 2005 had the heated seats switch on the seat. By the time your butt was cooked you could reach down and depress. Only way to see if it was on was to stop and open the door. On the dash is a great change. It timed out after ten minutes also. Just as info, the book said to wait ten minutes before resetting for second time regarding the heated mirror switch.
