U Joint question

Ok, I have 93k miles on a 2000 X V10 I tow over 13K lb once a month. I have started hearing clank from the Drive shaft and it seems like its time to replace the U joints anyone have any suggestions othere than OEM...

did u try and go under ur truck and move the drive shaft with ur hand?

Yup, there is some movement. Its a cheap replacement cost so not too worried about it,. But if there is better than OEM and its not too $$$ I am all for it..

I dont kno bout u joints (nv had to replace) but, if kno one chimes in, i cant she y u wouldnt go with OEM, they got u 90k. Also how are the fronts?

one thing to remember is if you change type of joints from factory to something else. Like ones with grease fittings in the ends, caps, or in the cross. It'll change the balance of the shaft. Even with factory replacements you might have a minor balance issue. Stock ones are always the safest bet.

Call around and get Spicer u-joints. They are the best IMHO.
Usually a drivetrain supply or NAPA carry them or can get quickly since yours are just starting to make noise.
Replace both on the shafts and remember to scribe a line between any slip joints to maintain factory balance in the shaft assys.
Put it togeather the same as it came apart you will be ok.

No sir I am gonna have a shop do it. I would normally do it myself but I have no time before this weeks trip. Plam Springs for kids cheerleading

The first time I had my rears done I ended up having to have a new driveshaft installed. The shop tried and tried to balance it but gave up.
