I thought I would start this thread for some honest feedback for me and others looking for more performance out of there 300's. It works like this, if I switched some performance part on your truck back to stock while you slept at night could you really notice the difference the next day when you drove to work?
The old butt dyno we all go by really is flawed because we just spent alot of time and money on a part and really want it to work, so of course we feel like our trucks have more power. As an example, my buddy has a 2000 S-10 blazer that he is really proud of, the newest vehicle he's ever owned and it is nice. So one day he pulls up, I hop in and we start going down the road and he's on it hard as usual then looks over at me and says with a smirk, "alot more nuts now huh?" and I was like "what?, seems normal to me", I thought he was about to cry from the look on his face. Little did I know that a couple days ago he had spent hundreds of dollers on a K&N FIPK, catback exhaust, and chip, and not knowing he had done that I could not tell the differance.
So while you were sleeping last night I replaced part X with the stock piece did you notice anything the next day? Please list the part and if you would really and truely notice that it was missing, good or bad.
This is a great thread! I hope people answer this so people may get the chance to know what would be an actual gain for their motor and what is just perceived to be one. My answer would be my intake/carb. I changed to the offy dp and holley 4bbl. Don't know if by itself added a ton of power but it does run smoother than the 1bbl that was on it.
Yes you could do a search to find stuff to give your motor more power and torque, but that is not what the OP asked. "Would you notice a difference if I took this off while you were sleeping?" Some people would tell you that they would notice if you took their $5 a piece spark plugs out, but you probably wouldn't. A K&N air filter on a stock 300 is not going to give you 50hp but some people act like it does. Maybe I took the question the wrong way, but I thought it as a discussion thread not a tech thread.
