1995 Explorer Freeze Plug issues

Hi I am trying to figure out just how hard it is to change the freeze plugs in my 95 explorer. I'm praying this is all that is wrong with it, i allowed my uncle to drive this vehicle and evedently he let all the water run out. We thought it was the water pump and that was replaced but now when you add water/antifreeze mixture it runs out underneith the vehicle. I'm so-so at fixing parts in my vehicle so I was just wondering if it was very hard to get to the freeze plugs. and if not what is the best way to get to the one's underneeth. Thanks!
Heather
It's a 4wd 6 L( it takes 6 spark plugs)

ok when you are underneeth it with your feet sticking out the front of the vehicle it is dripping water on the right side of the oil pan. I can't see if there is a hole casue the oil filter is in the way. Should I remove that and drain the oil to see further up?
I concluded it should be that because when I tell eveyone whats going on they sudjest the freeze plugs. I just replaced the water pump and that made it leak even more.

Welcome to FTE Heather. I would remove the oil filter to take a look and see what is going on. Did he overheat the truck while driving it? If so, the 4.0 OHV is very prone to head warping if it overheats.

i'm not sure if he did or not, I was trying to be nice and loan out my extra vehicle and then i get it back with problems. If it does have head warping then what would be the symptoms? I removed the oil filter and still can't see anything. I'm going to head back out there and feel aroound.

Ok i just re-looked and saw an ever so little hole in one of the freeze plugs. I'm not even sure how to describe it. but i can see that it has a little water run off from the hole. I see no water in the oil and the water that was leaking from the hole didn't feel like there was any oil in the water. The overflow tank still has water in it and looking at that I don't see anything unusual. Not sure if that is a good sign or not.
I am going back out to see if there is water leaking from anywhere else. If anyone has anything else they think i need to look for let me know.
Thanks

If you have access to a cooling system pressure tester, you can use that to put the system under pressure and then the leaks are very apparent.
