wow thats dumb!! Junk yard? Ford may not even have them its hard to say. I think the junk yard would be a good spot to check. Most all plugs of that type are the same thing. I think 3/8 or 1/2 pipe thread with 3/8 square drive
I have been making "Magnetic" drain plugs for years, mostly for my motorcycles. Ace hardware carries small magnetic "Push Pins" for notes on refigerators etc. The magnets are Earth magnets and strong as all get out.
Take a pair of dykes (Wire cutters, not the girls) and break the plactic away and you have just the magnet left.
I don't recall the drill size but I then drill out the center of the drain plug about 1/6" or there abouts, just make a little pocket for the magnet to sit in and JB the magnet to the plug.
You reall don't have to use JB Weld as I drilled one too deep and never was able to get the magnet out so I could use the JB.
With an earth magnet installed in the plug you can stick it to the side of you tool box etc and it really has a strong pull.
I tried ordering one from Ford a year or so ago and they ordered a non-magnetic plug. I got it anyway but went to a junkyard and got one. They're the same from the 80's on up to probably the brand new ones. Half tons are the same too.
