Hi guys I hope you can help me I have a 2002 f350 dually 4x4. when I put the truck in 4x4 high it pulls very hard to the right. The lights come on but it just pulls very hard to the right any ideas will really help.
How would I test this and is this something I can fix or should I take it somewhere? By the way thanks for the quick reply I just bought this truck and I am finding I should have looked at a few more things.
to test you need to turn the wheel all the way to the right then jack up the front end. with the hub locked rotate the tire. it should be pretty much free of any binding. If the u-joint is bad it will be very hard to turn. Do the same thing on the other side.
oh yeah forgot about that part of your question. They can be pretty tricky to change. remove the wheel, brakes, 4wd hub, the drive hub and rotor assembly then the tricky part is the spidle that the wheel bearings ride on. remove the nuts holding it on and I think you are from TN but up here in Michigan those babies rust in there. and with out the adapter for a slide hammer it can take alot of hits from a large hammer or lots of chisel work to get them off. then the axle just slides out of the axle housing and change the u-joint.
