Bad storms
mid south seems to have gotten it pretty bad. i know of 6 tornadoes in Memphis/Shelby (mainly cause 4 i either saw or was in while at work) then north Mississippi got hit pretty good too. hope everyone is ok
I work in Passagula Mississippi, But live in Hernando and my wife said we were out of power for a couple of hours last night.Got to work this morning and seen it was a bad one, hope every body made it ok
It hit south & west of Collierville. We had sirens going from 5 pm to 8 pm. The Southaven Ms. & Hickory Hill area in Memphis is torn up real bad. Several main streets are closed around the airport. It knocked out power to 24,000 homes in the Memphis area. I hope everyone is ok. I hear that more tornados hit in counties east of me around Jackson.
Hickman county is bad and so is Sumner county...alot of schools closed.
one of our workers just call from Hickman co. and said nothing but foundations left in one area (20 - 30 homes)

We were lucky here in the east and just got rain and wind for the most part. I feel for you guys out west, hope everyone made it okay. The damage looked pretty intense I pray for the ones that lost.
I got hit worse several days ago, high winds like to've tore the phone line off the side of my place. But I drug out a ladder and nailed up a torn out piece of trim using 16d sinkers (which should have been used to begin with).
Now my neighbor behind me.... His dog kennel has been rebuilt three times this week!

We had a mattress factory and furniture store completly wiped out down here in McNairy county. It was located in eastview south of Selmer. No one was hurt that I have heard of.
My sister and brother-in-law are out here visiting from California. My sister grew up in West Memphis and is used to the tornado drills, Now her husband is a true Cali boy, ain't never even heard a tornado siren before. As they were in the basement of my house, he kinda leaqned over to my sister and and asked, "when does the plane leave for california again?" LOL!

I never even heard about the alert. Funny - when I first got back here I thought the sirens were left over defence alert sirens (Like we were going to have an air raid, right?) and wondered what the big deal was....
Over all, I'd rather have ONLY ONE natural disaster to worry about. WE only have tornados.
California has earthquakes, state-wide forrest fires, crumbling cliffs with million dollar houses on them, eco-terrorists who burn up resorts and H-2 lots, and so on....
And then there are the taxes and welfare system.
I think we're safer where we are! If you make money - they don't tax you back into poverty here.

It took me fifteen years to get out of California - I've been back once, and it wasn't the same. So I have no regrets at all.
1) The open spaces are CLOSED. You can't even bicycle on them.
2) The dirt race tracks were bulldozed ten years ago (except on Indian land)
3) The cost of living is INSANE
4) Price of gasoline? I don't want to think about it... Fill up across the state line!
5) Crime... What did they think would happen, when housing is more expensive than a DOPE HABIT?
6) Water - better have a huge funnel and a cistern, like in the Phillipines. But OH YEAH! It don't rain there...
7) Power... They say they are working on that...
8) Crowding: Ever notice what RATS do, when there are too many in the same cage?
9) Fishing: Not even the ocean fishing is that great, the Mexican fleets have no minimum size limit.
10) Hunting: About all you can hunt for there is a U-HAUL...
FACT! It's cheaper to rent a moving trailer or truck to go INTO California, than it is to rent one going east. They have to pay drivers to bring their equipment back into the state. The only way around that is to rent it for a point to point inside California, drive it to another state, and then drive the truck or whatever back into California to drop it off.
